Why can you never recreate a hairstyle that the hairdresser does..?

The other day I went for my hair to be trimed - nothing major just a few inches off (my hairstyle is basically a below shoulder length bob) and now I have washed and dried it myself it looks nothing like how she did it.

All I have to do is blow dry it straight, I've decided I need another pair of arms coming out of my back. I can't get it to stay flat and shiny no matter how much I smooth it.

God help me if I ever decide to go for a fancy style.
