America Everything is now in place for our jaunt to the USA in just over a months time. All fights are booked, paid for and confirmed. The car hire has been sorted and last night we booked the hotel in Alabama. All that is left to do is buy the wedding gift and my outfit. I think I will buy something over there as apparently the wedding has a colour scheme.Rupert asked me last night if I was looking forward to it - to be honest not much. I am more apprehensive than anything. I am not normally apprehensive about holidays but America is not a place that has ever appealed to me, although I was offered a job a few years back working in Montana on a Ranch.I suppose where we are going (Oklahoma and Alabama) it will be "real" America not the tourist side. The downside of that is no vegetarian food, we looked at menus for the places where we will be staying and there was probably 1 dish I could eat without any modification, so today a workmate over his lunch hour took it upon himself to seek out on the internet Vegetarian places in OK and AL and actually found some...! Although in AL one of the places is on Slaughter Ave, whether that was by accident or design I don't know but it gave us a good laugh.I know Rupert wants us to go to Florida next year.We have spent close to £1000 each on this 2 week trip and that's not including spending money. Last time I spent that sort of money on a holiday I got a weeks cruise around the Caribbean and a week all inclusive in a 2 star hotel in Jamaica.I suspect once the first week is over and done with I will start to enjoy it. We haven't seen Tim (the bloke who is getting hitched and Rupert's best mate) in over two years and have never met Rachel (the bride) so it should be rather fun.Lets hope everything goes according to plan or if it doesn't there will be £200 on its way from You've Been Framed. :o) ** 0 Comments** |
