I am sorry I haven’t updated but I have been deep down in the dumps and didn’t feel like it.

Things are looking up though.

At work I have been asked to be backup for Desktop Support, this means if they are ever short of people they will call me and I will go to their department or the workshop and help out.

I need to become more rounded at work. I have been on the Helpdesk for nearly two years and I am now on my “flat spot”. I know a lot but my knowledge is only surface level, I need to go deeper, not just so I can do a better job but so I can improve myself. I am putting myself out to various support teams so I can get a better understanding of their environment and then I can choose which way I want to progress be it Desktop, Lotus Notes, LAN/WAN or something completely different.

Who knows where my talent lies….? Or even if I have the talent required.

Something happened at work to give me a kick up the arse, basically I did someone a massive favour so they wouldn’t get in the shit. They took all the credit for my work and wouldn’t even return the favour when I need it next week.

Well that’s the last time mate that I do you a favour.

Last night Roop and myself went out for a meal, we were just talking and got onto the subject of my birthday. I know what one of my presents is but have no idea what the other one is. What makes it worse is he doesn’t know what to get me either.

I did suggest that he whisk me away on a romantic weekend away but I was only playing, I know its not fair for him to pay and I can’t really afford it. As much as I would love to go away, I wouldn’t be happy knowing he was going to go into debt with it. So I suppose it’s going to have to stay as one of those romantic dreams.

But that’s what dreams are for.

Tonight we are making the journey Ooop North as it’s the Bank Holiday weekend. We are leaving late so hopefully we will miss the traffic and it will give me time to tackle the Ironing Mountain that has erupted in the living room and to do a general tidy up.

We are collecting his puppies from the kennels and my kitties from the cattery as well, we have not see the pets for ages. I hope my cats remember me – I am sure I can jog their memories with prawns.
